Karl Lagerfeld - Parallele Gegensätze/Parallel Contrasts in Essen (Exhibition)

Some love him, some hate him. There is no in between. His style is one of a kind and he is a character that isn't afraid to say what he thinks. He doesn't filter his thoughts and ideas, he amplifies them. In Karl Lagerfeld's current exhibition "Parallel Contrasts" or "Parallele Gegensätze" in the Museum Folkwang in Essen you can see exactly that other side of Karl that is usually partly unrecognized as his work in the fashion world is so extraordinarily famous. The exhibition was to the point and showed a part of his work as a photographer, film maker, thinker and creative show planner . It was a small exhibition that gave us a little glimpse into the world of Karl Lagerfeld. I liked him before and now I am only fascinated how one person can be so great and creative on so many levels. Especially his photomontages and short movies about Coco Chanel enchanted me!

I can only recommend going to this exhibition! If you want to be luckier than us, arrive at least an hour prior to the offered open tours as they fill up quickly. Bring some time to relax and soak in the contrasts that Lagerfeld shows.

For more information about the exhibition which will be open until May 11th, 2014 click here: http://www.museum-folkwang.de/en/exhibitions/current-exhibtions/karl-lagerfeld.html

Karl Lagerfeld, Self portrait, "What the fuck is Heimat" (LOVED THIS ONE!)
